Season of Jubilee

It all begins with an idea.

We are delighted to bring you the very first edition of our newsletter — a special platform to share updates, testimonies, and all that God is doing among us in the City of God Church family. Glory to God! This November marks a significant milestone as our church celebrates four years of God’s faithfulness in Ottawa! What a joy and a blessing to witness the Lord’s mighty hand at work in our midst. Throughout all the Sundays in November, we will be rejoicing in the goodness of God. It will be a festival of praise and a banquet of worship to the One who has sustained His church. We encourage everyone to invite a friend, a neighbour, or a loved one to fellowship with us this month. Together, let us return all glory and adoration to our faithful God! The month of November has been declared the Season of Jubilee. May this be a month of divine encounters and fresh experiences of God’s presence like never before.

Shalom,

The City of God Church Family

Prayer Direction

November Prayer Focus — A Season of Thanksgiving and Renewal

As we enter this season of gratitude, may our hearts overflow with thanksgiving for God’s goodness throughout the year. Let us also lift up these prayer points in faith, trusting Him to perfect all that concerns us before the year ends.

Prayer is the key

A Fresh Encounter with God

That in the remaining days of this year, we will have a deeper and more intimate encounter with God — knowing Him in the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His presence.(Philippians 3:10)

Fulfillment of God’s Divine Plans

That every plan and purpose of God for our lives this year will come to completion, and that our hopes for the future will not be cut off. (Proverbs 23:18)

Grace to Rejoice in Every Season

That God will endow us with the grace to rejoice always — in good times and in challenges — as a true expression of our trust in Him. (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18)

Divine Deliverance and Protection

That the Lord, by His mighty right hand, will deliver us from every snare and uphold us in His strength and mercy. (Psalm 44:3–4)

The Gift of Perfect Peace

That we will experience the peace of God that surpasses all understanding — filling our hearts and homes with calm assurance now and in the year to come. (Philippians 4:7)

May this November be a month of renewed faith, joyful thanksgiving, and divine encounters as we prepare to cross triumphantly into a new year.

Evangelism & Community Impact

Faith and Finances - Steps for a Peaceful Season

Last Christmas, one brother proudly declared he’d finished all his shopping early — only to realize in January that he’d actually been shopping with his credit card’s money, not his own! He joked that even his wallet was “fasting and praying” by New Year’s Day. But in the same season, one sister chose a different path. Instead of buying expensive gifts, she baked cookies with her children and delivered them to neighbours and families in need. She said it was the most peaceful Christmas she’d ever had — no debt, no stress, just joy, laughter, and a sense of purpose. Both stories remind us that peace doesn’t come from how much we spend, but from how wisely and lovingly we use what God has placed in our hands.

Here are a few tips to help keep your faith and finances intact this season:

  1. Budget with purpose: Write down what you can truly afford — gifts, food, travel, and those “just one more thing” moments. Planning early means peace later.

  2. Give thoughtfully: Not every gift needs a price tag. Offer your time, prayers, or homemade treats — and yes, your cookies could change someone’s day!

  3. Save before you spend: Even $10 a week builds cushion for the new year — your January self will thank you.

  4. Be content and grateful: Don’t let comparison steal your peace. Joy lives in gratitude, not in shopping carts.

  5. Remember others: Skip one luxury and bless someone else’s table. True generosity multiplies joy for everyone involved. “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” – Proverbs 21:5

So this Christmas, spend wisely, laugh freely, and remember — Jesus paid it all, so you don’t have to!

Inspirational Messages

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” – Psalm 107:1 Let us live with hearts full of gratitude, recognizing God’s blessings in every moment, big and small. A thankful heart brings joy, peace, and hope.
